Eating and Drinking

There are restaurants in both the Lovat and Priory Hotels offering food throughout the day and into the evening. And the Shimla Restaurant serves Indian meals at lunch and in the evening and is also a popular takeaway.

During the day you can visit Corner on the Square – a local delicatessen which offers breakfast and lunches, as well as coffees and snacks. And the newest addition to the village is Café Biagiotti, an Italian style café providing light lunches and snacks.

We’re well catered for in takeaway food. Corner on the Square, Shimla and Café Biagiotti offer takeaways, as does Lucky Ly Chinese. The Friary offers traditional fish and chips and Harry Gow, our award winning baker, also provides a takeaway service including soup and traditional Scotch pies. This is your place to pick up a local delicacy, known as a buttery. Their dream rings are the stuff of local legend.
